Tummy Tuck: How do I plan my surgery?
The first step in having the operation is to come in for your consultation with Dr. Grado
- “I could not wear the kinds of clothes I wanted to wear since the baby was born.”

Dr. Grado will discuss the time you will need away from your job for the operation you will have. Most patients need a minimum of 10-14 days away from work. Some patients who have a desk type job can return to work at an earlier date. Those whose jobs involve lifting will need a longer time away from those duties. When the muscles are repaired, heavy lifting prior to complete healing can lead to disruption of the muscle repair and loss of the flatness of the abdomen.
You will need a caretaker to stay with you for two to three days after the operation. Patients with young children will need to make additional arrangements to cover placing these children in car seats and lifting them into bed.
