Breast Reduction: How do I plan my surgery?
- “My breasts used to make me look overweight and kept me from exercising”

If you are older than 30, Dr. Grado will require you to have a mammogram (breast x-ray) before surgery. If you have had a mammogram in the preceeding year, that may be sufficient and will be reviewed. You'll also get specific instructions on how to prepare for surgery, including guidelines on eating and drinking, smoking, and taking or avoiding certain vitamins and medications.
Breast reduction doesn't usually require a blood transfusion. It is important to refrain from taking any aspirin or other anti-inflammatories for two weeks prior to your operation. These medications can significantly increase your risk of bleeding.
While you're making preparations, be sure to arrange for someone to drive you home after your surgery and to help you out for a few days if needed.
