Breast Reduction: Is it right for me?
Large, disproportionate breasts may, not only make a woman feel insecure about her appearance, but they also may make her feel physically uncomfortable. Heavy breasts can cause back and neck problems and make daily activities a chore. Bra straps may even leave indentations in shoulders. Breast reduction is the solution for many women who have this experience. Breast reduction reduces breast weight, size and mass, leaving a woman feeling much more confident and comfortable
- “I cannot stand the pain in my shoulders, anymore.”

You will gain a new sense of freedom in your exercise and physical activity, and the ability to wear a greater variety of clothing styles. Breast reduction typically makes a dramatic change in your body image, and it may take some time to adjust to your new appearance. However, most women soon become comfortable with their smaller, more proportional breasts and feel very pleased with the results of surgery. In fact, of all the procedures that plastic surgeons perform, breast reduction ranks among the highest in patient satisfaction. Your insurance company may even cover this procedure. We will work with them to obtain coverage, if possible.
Dr. Grado has performed more than 1000 breast reductions. The operation is almost always outpatient and takes 2 hours. Many women with desk type jobs may return to work as soon as one week after the operation. No sutures need to be removed. Ages of patients range from 13 through 83 years of age. Patients may shower the second day after the operation.
