Dr. Grado is certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery, the only one recognized by the American Board of Medical Specialties to certify physicians who have specialized in plastic surgery. In addition to medical degrees, Dr. Grado has exceeded the required five years of advanced surgical training.
Dr. Grado is affiliated with the finest hospitals and surgical centers throughout Eastern Iowa and is on call 24 hours a day.
Dr. Grado was born in Iowa City and raised in Illinois. He attained his Doctor of Medicine degree from Southern Illinois University in 1978, and he completed a General Surgery Residency at the University of Missouri in Columbia and the University of Nebraska in Omaha. Dr. Grado then completed a residency in Plastic Surgery at Southern Illinois University in Springfield. Since completion of his formal training in 1985, Dr. Grado has been in Plastic Surgery practice in Cedar Rapids. During that time he has been active in local and state medical societies as past president of the Iowa Society of Plastic Surgeons and chairman of the department of surgery at Mercy Medical Center, Cedar Rapids.
